Vertigo / Dizziness
Vertigo is a sensation of spinning that is described as dizziness.
There are 2 types typically recognized:
- Peripheral
- Central
Peripheral vertigo causes include:
- Benign positional vertigo
- Medication induced
- Head injury induced
- Neuronitis
- Labyrinthitis
Central vertigo causes include:
- Vascular disease
- Medication induced
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Stroke complications
- Vestibular migraines
I include a third type that I see commonly in my clinic, which is cervicogenic vertigo.
There are 4 types of dizziness:
- Vertigo
- Disequilibrium
- Presyncope
- Light-headedness
Dizziness typically is a mis-match of information between the eyes, ears, cerebellum (brain), jaw, and gut.
The goal with treatment is to assess the complexity of the situation and create strategies to correct and or alleviate the symptoms.

– Metabolic Assessment Form - Bring any blood work that’s with the last 12 months.
- Give us a list of your medications.
- If you have any posturography studies, please bring reports.
- Schedule an exam and first treatment with Dr. McKenzie, which costs $168 and typically takes about 1 hour. Follow-ups are $42. Dr. McKenzie will create a strategy to improve your outcome.
